Kindle Fire Giveaway Event {Bloggers Wanted}
Happy Blogiversary to Meeee! {Giveaway Day 4!}
Um, where's my cupcake?!?!
Kidding.
Happy Blogiversary to moi! I'm so excited. I hope someone else is too lol.
When I started blogging I wrote a coupon/deal blog and it was a lot of fun, but it turned out to not be my thing. When I started this blog one year ago, I didn't really know where it was going to take me, and as usual I just jumped in feet first.
I don't by any means think that I've "gotten where I'm going" (does that make sense?) but I finally feel as though I've found my groove.
I"m so grateful for all of you who read and interact with me regularly; I cherish our relationships! For those of you who are new around here, let's get to know one another! If you have questions, ask! I love it when you comment or email me, and I do my best to respond to each and every one of you.
Okay, enough of the sappy sh*t. On to the giveaway!
The fabulous Bre of Bre Writes is here today giving away a $15 Starbucks gift card! Oooh yea!
Blog.Facebook.Twitter. |
Bre is awesome; we had the opportunity to meet last September and she is so sweet in person and easy to talk to. Plus, she loves books and I'm a total book nerd. Y'all check out her page and say hi would ya? Be sure to thank her for this awesome giveaway! Good Luck!

Who Am I? Who Are You? {Blogiversary Celebration Day 2!)
Hey friends! Welcome to day 2 of my blogiversary celebration! I'm so excited because today you are getting a nice treat from a super sweet gal! Melissa from Dreams and Colour is here today answering the question Who Am I? Not only is she an incredible writer but she has brought a little gift with her. Read on to learn a little more about Melissa and then enter to win a My Dream Sample Box at the end!
Who am I?
That’s a question a lot of us ask and get asked. It’s a complex question, on so many levels, and can be answered in so many ways. It’s not an easy question to answer!
So, who am I?
I can answer this by throwing out some stats: 20 something; Aquarius; Caucasian; Canadian (Southern Ontario, to be exact); oldest of three kids; daughter of parents happily married for 30+ years.
I can also answer this with educational info: a graduate of the Catholic education system; BA in Communications- Media and Culture; post grad in Event Management; Continuing Education course for my Registered Insurance Brokers (Ontario) license; Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker.
What about work history: waitress (private country club & small café); local mall (customer service); marketing company (summer student); insurance brokerage (student); marketing company (freelance, handling international accounts); 3 insurance brokerages (Customer Service Rep/Broker); web consultant (freelance); 3 non-profit organizations (fundraising).
Or volunteer experience: co-founder and administrator of a high school scholarship; executive member of 3 alumni associations; economic advisory committee; anniversary weekend chair of a local municipality; tourism advisory committee; Catholic school board trustee candidate; high school reunion committee; political campaigns (municipal, provincial, national); Ontario Cheerleading Federation; University Society; event day volunteer for various organizations; Alzheimer advocate.
Interested in my likes: New York Rangers, and with that, hockey in general; laughing; Kindle/reading; straws; flamingos; iced tea; hot chocolate, grilled cheese sandwiches; being at the beach; Mona Lisa Smile; Disney; having fun; board games; water.
Dislikes: people with egos; poor manners and grammar; being judged by people who don’t know me and/or can’t be bothered to get to know me; negative people; drivers who cut me off and then drive under the speed limit; seafood; super cold winter days; the smell of smoke; being woken up.
Countries traveled: Canada; USA; Mexico; Jamaica; Australia; Spain; Portugal.
I can go on…accomplishments, failures, dreams, goals, strengths, weaknesses, life experiences, random words…
The ways I can answer “Who am I?” is endless. What I say and how I describe myself, does it really matter? Does it make a difference?
What matters, is I am the person I choose to be. I create my own destiny, my own life journey, my own future, my own experiences. If I don’t like something that defines who I am, I have the ability to change it. I define who I am and I’m someone who is undefined. I don’t fit into neat little categories and fall into step.
Right now, as I write this, who am I?
I’m simply someone who’s happy to be me.
Thanks Lacey for letting me guest post! You can find me at www.dreamsandcolour.blogspot. com
Isn't she great? Make sure you pop over to her blog & say hello!

Three Bean Chili
The last few weeks the weather has been pretty chilly around here so I've been squeezing in as many soup and chili recipes as I can. I found this recipe on Pauladeen.com and decided to give it a try. Traditionally, "Texas Chili" doesn't have any beans in it but I'm a fan of beans for so many reasons - the fiber, the bulk they add to meals which helps stretch your meat & your budget..anyhow, as non Texan as this recipe is, I just had to try it!
I changed a few things up along the way, as noted in the recipe.
Ingredients:
1 (14.5 oz.) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 (14.5 oz.) can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 (14.5 oz.) can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
1 (28 oz.) can whole peeled tomatoes
2 (28 oz.) can diced tomatoes
1 small can tomato paste
1 can Chili beans (being that I usually don't put beans in my chili, I didn't even know what this was. Needless to say, I didn't use them!)
1 Green Bell Pepper, diced
1 Medium Onion, diced
2 Cups Chopped Celery
1 Package chili seasoning mix (I didn't use a seasoning mix - I had all seasonings on hand)
Ground Cumin
Chili Powder
1 lb. ground beef and sausage, browned and drained (I actually used 1 pound of chili meat)
Shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and green onions for garnish
Directions:
Brown chili meat in a skillet and then drain. Spray a large pot with non stick cooking spray and heat over medium heat. Add the onion, pepper and celery and saute briefly. Stir in the tomatoes. Add cumin and chili powder to taste and cook about 8 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Add beans, meat, and chili seasonings. Cover partially and let simmer for 4 hours.
I served this chili over fritos and topped it with shredded cheddar cheese. I loved this recipe because it made so much that I had enough to freeze to save for another meal! It was delicious and so filling!

Country Roots
Yes, I have some pretty strong country roots, but that's not even what we're talking about today!
Today we're talking to my friend and sponsor, Lindsey, from Country Roots City Living.
She's such a sweetie and I wanted to give y'all a chance to get to know her a little better, so, we concocted this little interview!
Enjoy & when you are finished pop over to Lindsey's place and say hello! You'll adore her, I swear!
1) What is your most treasured childhood memory?
This is a hard question for me because I have so many favorite memories. I was actually talking to my mom about this to help me decide. So I am going to go with gymnastics. I started gymnastics when I was three then when I was in 8th grade I got back into it again and then started competitive gymnastics that took me all over the United States. I loved traveling around making friends all over, spending the quality time with my mom and dad, and making fun memories with my teammates. I always had both my parents at every meet with me and most of the time both of them would take me to practice. I am also very thankful on how involved my mom and dad were. Most of the kids would have their mom there but not their dad so it was even more special to me that my daddy went too! :)
2) What is your idea of the perfect vacation? Where would you go and with whom? What would you do?
My perfect vacation would be to go back to Spain. When Todd (my husband) and I first starting dating he told me he wanted to take me to Spain to visit his dad and step mom. We spent 10 days touring southern Spain and I loved every second of it. I want to go back and take both my boys and my parents so they could see the beauty that we saw. I would also want my in laws to go because they know where they are going there and it would be a lot of fun to have everyone together and able to experience it. One specific thing we would definitely do would be hike up the rock of Gibraltar again and see the rock apes. (pic is circa 2003)
3) Randomly list off five of your favorite things.
My favorite food is pizza and Mexican. My favorite color is pink and sparkly colors, favorite place is Florida, my home in Indiana, and anywhere with my family. My favorite makeup is for eyes it is the Naked pallet 2, foundation is Merle Norman mineral makeup..it adds a shimmer and my fave eyeliner is stiletto. My favorite drink is going to Sonic daily and getting a large diet coke with two squirts of cherry! :)
4) If you had to pick one word to set the theme for your life in 2013, what would it be? For example, my word is change.
Breathe or relax
5) Share with us a shortened version of your bucket list.

Build-a-Bear Disney Princess Bear Giveaway and Review!
My oldest loves Build A Bear. In fact, she has been asking lately for her next birthday party to be at Build A Bear. We've got 9 more months kid! Anyhow, here is your chance to win a $25 gift card to a Build A Bear workshop!
Not to long ago, I had the chance to review the wonderful Merry Mint Pup
Build-a-Bear for Christmas! It was just so cute and I fell in love! Build-a-Bear Workshop as just came out with, dare I say it, even cuter furry friend! The Disney Princess Bear is just so adorable and is perfect for any little princess!
Build-a-Bear Workshop released the Disney Princess Bear($23) on Jan. 11th in North America. This cute as can be princess bear is a wonderful cotton candy pink color and has a purple metallic crown! What is even more adorable, is the bottom paws of this bear! On the left paw it has different colored crowns and on the right it as a group picture of all the Disney Princesses! This small detail really sold me on the idea of this being a Disney Princess Bear!
Each Disney Princess Bear can magically transform into any of your little one's favorite Disney Princess with a quick outfit change! The Disney Princess outfits include Cinderella, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White(in select stores), Tiana and Belle(in select stores). I really wish they had an Ariel outfit, as she is my personal favorite, but all of these outfits are cute as can be! We had the chance to review the Disney Princess Bear and the Cinderella outfit!
The Cinderella outfit comes with the perfect Cinderella ballgown and sheer baby blue gloves. She also came with a removable silver crown with a blue jewel. My favorite part of the outfit is the glass slippers! The Build-a-Bear workshop designers really went into great detail to make sure she looks just like cinderella! She even has a necklace with a picture of Cinderella! We also recieved a princess wand with our furry friend that makes a whimsical fairy sound and lights up. My step daughter will absolutely love this!
The Disney Princess Bear is a great way for any little princess to experience the Disney magic in their own home! Build-a-Bear Workshop really did a wonderful job capturing the Disney Princess essence and the Disney magic! Now the best part, Build-a-Bear Workshop has graciously let our readers have a chance to win a $25.00 giftcard to Build-a-Bear Workshop! Enter using the Rafflecopter below!

Wax Roses Giveaway!
You guys, until like, today, I'd never even heard of wax roses but I am loving this product! Check out this review & giveaway from Kathy!
This Review/Giveaway is done by Kathy's Freebies & Savings.
Have you ever gotten roses and they die within a few days or a week? This happens to me all the time. We all know that roses can't last forever. Wouldn't it be nice if they could last for a few months or more? Have you ever heard about wax roses before? Jewelry Candles has added a new item to their line and they are called Wax Roses.
One great thing I love about these roses is that they last longer than real roses would. They can last all the way up to six months. That's a long time! For the same price of a dozen real roses I know I would rather have ones that last longer for the same price. Don't forget about the piece of jewelry. That's another big plus. They last longer than real roses and come with a piece of jewelry. What more could you ask for?
I received this beautiful bracelet with my wax roses. I really love it, it's so pretty! Unfortunately the bracelet broke a few days ago. I contacted Jewelry Candles about it and they said they would send out a new piece of jewelry. After a few days, the new piece of jewelry arrived. This time it was a beautiful ring. There were no markings on the ring but that doesn't matter to me. It's such a beautiful ring I'll wear it all the time.
If you haven't check out Jewelry Candles yet, make sure to check them out. They have a lot of amazing products to choose from. Every one of their products come with a piece of jewelry.

I was provided with a dozen yellow wax roses to review from Jewelry Candles. As some of you may know, I'm a rep for Jewelry Candles as well, so I'm always up for reviewing any of their amazing products! All of the candles come with a piece of jewelry as well as for the wax roses too.
I received the dozen wax roses and before opening up the package I could already smell them. They smell just like real roses. Very amazing! I couldn't believe that wax roses could smell so good. The box they came in was really big and it was very pretty. It was a long black box and the roses were wrapped up with some tissue paper along with them having a plastic bag around them like the real roses have. Each dozen wax roses come with a piece of jewelry, just like their candles would. The jewelry is in a little bag attached to one of the roses.
