Five Questions Friday

Follow Me on Pinterest
Today I'm linking up with My Little Life for the very first time for Five Questions Friday!

Take a minute and hop on over or even link up yourself!
Alright, let's do this!

1) What's your favorite childhood snack that you still eat as an adult?

When I was a kid there was nothing I loved more than buttered cinnamon/sugar bread. A sice or two of yummy white bread slathered with creamy butter (from the tub, not the stick!) and then sprinkled with cinnamon & sugar. Yum-O y'all! I don't indulge in this particular snack very often these days, for obvious reasons but seriously, it's just heaven. Plus, so QUICK & EASY!

2) What food will you not eat the low fat version of?

Um, Yea..I don't eat the low fat version of ANYTHING. Okay, Okay, I really don't like low fait dairy products. If it is being used in a recipe then that is alright but other than that I prefer the full fat version thankyouverymuch.

3) What's your favorite way to cool off during the summer?

I like to hibernate inside my house with AC on 70 degress 24/7.

4) What's your favorite summer read?

Trashy celebrity gossip magazines are the best! I also like reading contemporary/modern romance novels. Lisa Kleypas is my favorite. You should read the Travises Series: Sugar Daddy, Blue-Eyed Devil, & Smooth Talking Stranger. Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin was also an awesome read as are some of her other books! ..And now you know I"m a book nerd! LOL.

5) What are you doing to stay cool in this awful heat?

We really are spending more and more time doing indoor activities. I'm trying really hard to only be out of the comforts of the AC in the early morning or late evening hours. Coaxing us outdoors pretty much requires some sort of water activity at this point. I'm a total wimp when it comes to the heat, can you tell??

Mommy Stress

Follow Me on Pinterest

Do you ever have one of those days when  you just feel like crying? I've had one of those days today. Nothing particularly bad happened today. Things went fairly well. It was just a normal day, yet, for some reason, this evening I feel like I could just break down at any moment. I've been on the verge of tears all afternoon!

I'm really not an emotional person. I actually tend to keep things inside when something is bothering me. I mull situations over in my head, rationalize and analyze them to death. Rarely do I just start crying, or screaming, or talking, or whatever it is normal people do when they are feeling bothered by something.

I"m a firm believer that a good cry can really make a person feel better though so maybe I shouldn't fight it off. Now that I think about it I have been under a lot of extra stress lately although not all of it is negative stress. A "mommy time out" is definitely in order very very soon.

What do you do to de-stress and make time for yourself?

SO WHAT! Wednesday

Follow Me on Pinterest

I'm back again this week for another round of So What Wednesday!

This week I'm saying "So What" if:

I traded my husband an, ahem, f.a.v.o.r. in exchange for picking up dinner one night last week. What? I really did not want to cook!

I ate a lean cuisine for lunch yesterday and then topped it off with an ice cream sandwich for dessert.

I cried a little (or maybe a LOT) when I couldn't get my computer to reboot the other day. It just sat there doing nothing, taunting me! I was TERRIFIED!

My baby fever is currently so awful that I've already got names picked out for both a boy and a girl. Y'all, my tubes.are.tied! The chances of another baby coming out of my hoo-ha, er...gaping hole in my stomach, are slim to none.

I'm already planning my kid's birthday parties even though they are still 4 & 5 months away. Birthdays are BIG in this house!

What are you saying so what to this week??

SO WHAT! Wednesday

Follow Me on Pinterest

I've been snooping around So What Wednesdays for a few weeks now and this week I've decided to join in on the fun!

This week I'm saying "So What" if:

  • I haven't done one stitch of laundry all week long and the laundry I did last week is still sitting around the house in baskets. We're not having to go naked...yet!

  • I've only cooked dinner ONE time this week. The other nights McHubby has cooked or we've had dinner with family. Or we just had ramen noodles or something.

  • When I turned the t.v. on this morning and got an error message concerning my DVR I had a panic attack because I was afraid that the DVR had purged itself again. I really thought EVERYTHING was deleted. Disney movies, The Bachelorette, Teen Mom and 35+ episodes of House Hunters. It would have ruined my week.

  • When I dropped McHubby off at work this morning I lied to Addison and told her the toilet in his office bathroom was broken because I didn't want to face his co workers in my pajamas. She was just going to have to hold it!

  • I checked in at McDonald's on Foursquare this morning so that I could take advantage of the B1G1 Free McCafe Iced Latte perk that they offer just for doing so. Both iced lattes were for me. One for then, one for later. Just call me Porky.

  • I already have a tummy ache from the first latte.

SO WHAT!

What are you saying so what to this week?

Father's Day D.I.Y. Picture Frame

Follow Me on Pinterest
Okay, so I know this is last minute, but that is kind of how I roll. I've been brain storming gift ideas to give to McHubby for Father's Day  for several weeks now but none of them have worked out. The other night I was in the shower, which is where I get most of my fabulous ideas, and I got to thinking about the million and one macaroni pictures frames I'd made as a kid. No, I'm not going to show you how to D.I.Y. a macaroni picture frame, but it's kind of the same thing!

Last weekend we went on a little trip to the hill country. While we there relaxing in the river I thought to have the kids fill up water bottles with small rocks and pebbles from the river bottom. I figured it would be a cool  and completely free souvenir, and they would have fun collecting. Two birds, one stone. Plus, I like free.

So back to my fabulous idea. I'm in the shower, dreaming about picture frames decorated with pasta when it came to me: River bottom pebbles + picture frame + picture from our trip = PERFECT GIFT!

I came up with this on Thursday and planned to make it on Friday. I went to the store, bought the frame (which was the only thing I had to buy! Yay!) and planned to do it during nap time that afternoon. Then, I couldn't find my darn glue gun! Long story short, my Dear Husband had to go buy me another glue gun so that I could make HIS Father's Day present. Poor guy.

So here's my point: Don't procrastinate & be prepared! Oh, and it's not too late to prepare something wonderful for the Dad in your life.

Now that the pads are burned off of my finger tips...

Honey, you are an amazing father and husband. I'd be happy to burn the tips of my fingers for you any day because I know you'll be there to make it all better. Thank you for loving us and taking care of us. Thank you for setting a good example for our children. Thank you for always striving to be the best father and husband you can be. You are doing an outstanding job. We love you to the moon and back.

XoXo

How are you celebrating Father's Day?

D.I.Y. Frame

Wooden Frame (I got mine for under $2 at WalMart)
Hot Glue Gun
Items to Decorate your Frame (I used river bottom rocks)

Arrange your decor items around the frame and then glue them in place with the HOT glue gun.

I know, pretty self explanatory, but I promised you a D.I.Y. :)

Clearing the Clutter & Getting Organized

Follow Me on Pinterest Last week I told y'all that getting organized was on my to do list for June. I also told you that it probably wasn't going to happen. Funny, cause that is the only thing on my list that I've actually been working on!

After searching about 3 hours for a hot glue gun and still not being able to find it, I knew something had to be done!

So I've been busy for the last two days working through the clutter, throwing away the trash (old papers that I really don't need anymore, mostly), and organizing things. I tried to find an appropriate picture to illustrate what part of my house may or may not have looked like prior to my cleaning spree but I couldn't find anything appropriate. Google "clutter" or "cluttered house." It's kind of disturbing!

I've managed to clean my medicine cabinet (an actual kitchen cabinet, not the bathroom variety), my pantry & 2 extra designated food cabinets, my closet (BIG deal!), the rubbermaid drawers in my room (2, each with 3 drawers!), my cedar chest contents, under my bathroom sink, the garage (except my hubby did that!), and my lotion/perfume collection!
I also moved my "desk" (it's actually a sofa table) out of my bedroom and back into my living room. I've just got to have a work space that I can utilize and still monitor my kiddos. Sitting in my recliner or on the couch was proving to be unproductive.

We live in what I consider to be a small house. It's just over 1200 sq. ft. and McHubby and I are constantly saying we need a bigger "          " (insert pretty much any room in the house here). Truth be told, our home is big enough for the most part. We just have too much STUFF. It's amazing how much different I feel now that all these areas of my home have been cleaned out and organized. Things look neat and I know exactly where to find what I'm looking for.

Bonus, I so would not be embarrassed if I caught you snooping in my bathroom cabinet. You'd be envious of my mad organization skills! ;)

At the end of my cleaning frenzy I realized that all this stuff we keep collecting is weighing us down. I've got to get better at throwing away the junk and organizing the important stuff.

Is clutter weighing you down? How do you keep things organized, especially in high traffic areas?

A Big June To-Do!

Follow Me on Pinterest

I've been totally slacking in the blogger department lately and it's also been awhile since I joined in on Mama Kat's Writer's Work Shop; when I saw the prompts this week I knew that it was the perfect time to jump back in.

The first prompt is 10 To Do's in June. Since I'm one hell of a list maker (although I lack in the follow through department) I knew this one was perfect for me!

So, without further adieu...

1) Lose 10 pounds.

I'm currently at my highest not-pregnant weight EVER. This is not cool. I was doing really well with regular diet & exercise until my car accident. My doctor told me to refrain from working out while I was undergoing treatment for my injuries. Um, sure Doc, you're not gonna have to twist my arm! While this has been good for my lazy bone, it hasn't been good for my figure. Now that I've been released by my doctor to resume normal exercise, Momma's gonna get her sexy back!

2) Get signed up for the 2013 Ticket Sales Committee for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.

I live in Houston and round here the HLSR is a BIG deal. It's been a huge part of my life for about as long as I can remember and I've always wanted to volunteer to work the rodeo. Not only is it for a seriously great cause, but let's face it, the perks are AMAZING. In the past I was worried about not being able to commit myself to the amount of time it takes to do the job right, but this year the time is finally right!! So y'all keep me in mind if you find yourself needing some tickets to the rodeo!!

3) Make New Friends, Online & Off.

I'm awful when it comes to making new friends; I'm so quiet and shy around new people. It's so awkward especially since I'm generally neither shy nor quiet. However, I'm trying to put myself out there more. I've recently joined two mommy groups that host play dates just about every day of the week. This will get both the kids & myself out more often and socializing with new people. It's great for me to converse with someone over the age of 4 and it's great for the kids to socialize and wear themselves out before nap time :)

I'm also looking forward to connecting with other bloggers & readers online.

4) Get A Tan.

It's summer y'all, and it is hot. And I don't like the heat. I don't like being outside, sweating like a dirty pig, 10 seconds after I've showered. This makes it difficult for me to get a tan unless I fake bake. I love a cozy tanning bed. Just not in the summer, cause it's hot in there and then it's hot outside too. Then I'm still a big ball of sweat. Looks like I'm gonna be spending a a lot of time in the pool this summer (keep cool + get a tan)...Unless I want to keep looking like Casper...

5) Get Organized.

Yea, like that is gonna happen. Moving On.

6) Get Back In My Blogging Groove.

Totally slacking on this front lately and it's bugging the crap out of me. I have the longest list of things I want to write about it and I'm running out of room both on paper and in my head. I need to hash some of these ideas out and hit the "publish" button!

7) Organize an Ad Swap For July.

I'd really like to get an ad swap going with other bloggers in time for July. Anyone interested? Email me!

8) Spend Less Time On Social Media & More Time With My Kids.

I constantly feel like I'm trying to catch up. On Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest. The madness Has Got To Stop!

It's way more fun hanging out with my kids anyway. Usually...

9) Plan An Awesome Night for My Upcoming Anniversary!

McHubby & I are celebrating 5 years on July 1st! Five years is a huge milestone in my opinion and I want to do something special to celebrate. I have a few ideas but I haven't made any concrete decisions yet...Any tips??

And now for my most easily attainable goal yet...

10) Drink.More.Wine.
