Sunday Social - All About Thanksgiving

Howdy friends! How's it going on this fine Saturday evening? I'm cuddled up on the couch at my mom's house with my brother, his friend, and both kiddos watch Secret of the Wings - the new Tinkerbell movie. Sounds amazing right? It's actually pretty nice.

I'm also resting up for The Color Run!!! It's tomorrow and I'm super excited!!!
Since I won't be around tomorrow, I decided to go ahead and link up tonight with Neely for the Sunday Social!

1) What is one of your favorite Thanksgiving memories?

I don't have just one memory that sticks out in my head, but I've always loved Thanksgiving because I get to see all of my extended family that I maybe don't see much otherwise. Everyone around the table stuffing themselves silly with turkey and pie. It really doesn't get much better than that!

2) What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?

Okay, I have two. The first are my Aunt's sweet potatoes. She makes them with orange juice so they are sweet and tangy. Seriously so good. I should link a recipe here for you but I"m too lazy to look for one. Sorry.
Also, my step mom's grandmother's dressing - it is soooo good. My step mom says she can't make it as good as Mamaw but I think it's perfect and I look forward to it every year.

3) What is a Thanksgiving tradition you and your family have?

We don't really have any traditions other than getting everyone all together. However, last year my step mom and I ran the Turkey Trot 5k on Thanksgiving morning and we're doing it again this year. I'm hoping that this will become our annual tradition - it makes me feel better about eating so much later in the day :)

Now that I've thought about this a bit more - there is a tradition that we kind of have at my Mom's. We hardly ever have turkey. She always makes something different and delicious - like a turducken, or lamb. We like to try something different and "out of the box." Mostly Mom doesn't like turkey :)

4) Show us your favorite Thanksgiving picture (or 5) from  years past.

Sadly, I don't have any on this computer - as a matter of fact I don't think I have any pictures from recent Thanksgivings past. I will be sure to take lots of pictures this year!!

5) What are you  most looking forward to about this Thanksgiving?

I'm looking forward to the Turkey Trot - I'm looking forward to my little brother planning our Thanksgiving menu - and I"m looking forward to being with my family.

Sunday Social

Hey y'all! I hope everyone is having a great weekend! The hubs and I are headed to the Texas Renaissance Festival today! I haven't been in SIX years and I'm a bit nervous about it - but I"m excited to see if things have changed any! Also, a turkey leg + "King's meade" sounds delightful!

I decided to link up with Neely for today's Sunday Social - y'all should check it out and link up too!

1) What is currently on your wishlist?
Really, do y'all have time for all that? My wishlist is a mile long and it could take all day to finish! Here are a few things I'm loving & wanting right now:

2) Share a new iphone, DROID, ipad app that you have recently discovered that we all need.
Yea, so I'm WAY behind in the "cool app" department - trust me, I've got nothing that you've never heard of lol.

3) What is a new Fall tv show that you have added to your DVR?
Nashville!! I'm a lover of all things country so it's a given that I'd be in love with this show - but the drama and the love stories are so good. It doesn't hurt that the men in the show are super good looking. Check out this guy:

Charles Esten plays Deacon and I fell in love with him almost instantly. Isn't he handsome? Also, I love the name 'Deacon'.

4) Share your social media links with us and tell us which is your favorite and why.
Oohh a reason to pimp out my social media accounts - I'm in! Facebook used to be my favorite but to be honest I"m kind of over it. I rarely even use my personal account anymore and when I do it's just to share something funny, important or interesting. Wait, that's what facebook is for huh? What I'm saying is I"m no longer stalking my entire friend list on facebook! I'm all over instagram lately though, thanks Lindsay!

5) What is a TV series, a movie or song you could listen to over and over again and never get tired of?
Grey's Anatomy, Pretty Woman and anything by George Strait!

Happy Sunday!!

Sunday Social {A Link Up}

Howdy! Hey y'all, how's it going? I'm sitting on the couch this morning, snuggled up with my little man watching Team Umizoomi for the 1,698,536(th?) time! I just love this show! (sense the sarcasm?)

Anywho...I had so much fun doing the Sunday Social Link Up with Neely from A Complete Waste of Makeup last week that I decided I should do it again!

1) What are the 5 items you can't live without on a daily basis? (water, food, shelter, and clothes don't count)

Okay, so I could totally live w/o these things but I certainly wouldn't want to - laptop, cell phone, internet connection, lipgloss, & my hair tie.

2) All time favorite book? Why?

I read this book when I was in middle school and it has always stuck with me. The story was so good and I've just never forgotten it. Plus, it won a medal so it must be great! Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech.

3) Something you'd like to accomplish before the end of 2012.

I'd like to meet my 2nd & 3rd weight loss goal. (that's another 20 pounds for those of you keeping track!)

4) If you could go back and relive any year of your life which year would it be?

2007. I made some crappy decisions that can't be undone now. I was living in the moment and I wish I'd looked ahead a bit more before I made those choices.

5) What do you wish people knew about you without you having to tell them?

When you find yourself in the same room as me and we've never met - the reason I'm not talking to you? It's not because I'm a total b*tch, it's because I'm shy folks! That's right, shy. It doesn't take me long to get over it, but until we've met and chatted for a bit, I'm shakin' in my boots. Yep. Me. SHY.

Happy Sunday y'all! Make it a great one!!

Sunday Social {Link Up}

Howdy! I know y'all aren't used to hearing from me over the weekend but let's just roll with it, okay? I wanted to try something new today so I decided to link up with Neely from A Complete Waste of Makeup for Sunday Social! So basically I'm gonna answer a few questions and maybe you will learn something new about lil ol' me!

1) What is the name of your blog and how did you come up with it?

And They Call Me Mommy is the name and apparently the little ones think it is a game. Like my rhyming skills? Yea, kinda corny, I know. Seriously, "Mommy!" is all I ever hear and so it just fit for the blog. I've been thinking about renaming but that is a whole other mess of a decision to make!

2) What do you love the most about blogging?

YOU GUYS! Seriously, I have met more people through blogging than I could have ever imagined. Friendly people, supportive people, genuine people. Not sure if you've noticed, but those kind of folks are seriously hard to come by these days. I love connecting with readers & other bloggers. It's the best.

3) What are your two favorite posts that you've written?

The one where I told my daughter that her Nanny (grandma) has cancer.
While this was probably one of the hardest posts to write and I hate that I ever had to write it, it did and still does touch me to this day.

The one about the time I tricked my uncle into helping me forge my mom's signature...when I was in the 1st grade! Really cool side note : I actually reconnected with the teacher I wrote about in that post about a week after it was published!

4)  What is something you would want to tell someone just starting out in blog world?

I would say to you just enjoy it. Don't worry. Just relax. Do what feels right to you. There are so many "rules" in blog land and while some of them make sense, some of them are so silly. Be yourself. Be authentic. Original. Have fun!

5) What is the biggest blogging learning experience that you've had?

I had to learn to blog about what I love, what makes me happy. If you aren't writing about things that make you smile you will get burned out and you'll just quit all together.

6) Three blogs that you NEED to be following because I love them!

Because Shanna Said So

I just love Shanna. We have so much in common (SWT Alumni ~ River Floatin ~ Pat Green Stalkin lovin) and that might be part of it, but she is also just so down to earth and sweet. I admire her style too!

Country Roots City Living

Lindsey & I became bloggy BFF's and then we became IRL BFF's. I adore her. She is the sweetest girl with the biggest heart. She is funny as heck when she is mad and is an amazing mother. She doesn't know this, but I kind of look up to her! Her life is changing in big ways right now and you'd be silly not to follow along on her new adventure.

From Nanny to Family

I can't remember now how I first stumbled upon Lindsay's blog. I can remember the first few times I read her page and walking away with my nose and forehead crinkled up. I wasn't too sure about her! NOW? Love her. She is funny, blunt, and she is as honest as they come. She doesn't hold back. I admire that. Plus, she is a pretty awesome friend!
