Spring in Texas

Spring is definitely here - the sun is shining a little more each day, it's no longer freezing cold out, and my entire house is sneezing and sniffling non stop. My favorite season has always been Fall but I have to tell you guys - this year Spring is giving Fall a run for it's money.

Every year around this time Texas is blessed by a sea of wild flowers. Blues, reds, and purples have folks breaking their necks to get a second look. It's a long standing tradition for a lot of us Texans to take photos in the wild flowers every Spring. This is something I've always wanted to do but for one reason or another it had never happened. Until this past weekend!

My sweetie indulged me and drove us the hour and half to Bryan, Texas to my Aunt's place where she has wild flowers that take your breath away. I was so excited and grateful that he was willing to do that - and I didn't even have to twist his arm!

We got some beautiful photos thanks to my Aunt! I took some of them, but without her help I wouldn't have gotten any pictures of our whole family or of just the two of us. I'm so grateful for the photos and memories made and I wanted to share a few with y'all. We will definitely be making Spring wild flower pictures a family tradition!

This weekend was very relaxed and maybe even, dare I say, boring. I'm not complaining because I love low key weekends but I just wanted to warn y'all ahead of time. :)

Saturday was spent running a few errands followed by dinner out.

I've been working hard potty training James and since he's been doing so well we made a little trip to Macy's for some new under roos.

It took him a few minutes to decide, but he finally went with the super heros!

Afterwards, both kiddos had hair appointments. My little guy was in desperate need of a cut and Addison got her bangs trimmed.

We treated ourselves to a nice dinner afterwards, mostly because it was late and I didn't feel like cooking. James & Hubs shared a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. I tried to get a picture of it for y'all but they ate it too quickly. My husband usually doesn't like sweets but he was eating it so fast I asked him if he was in a hurry. It said it was just that good. Apparently.

However good that cake might have been, it doesn't get any sweet than this:

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

P.S. Does anyone watch Revenge? (ABC, Sunday nights)

Weekend Recap {and the best margaritas ever!}

Y'all must think I'm crazy because I'm always happy when Monday rolls around. I like my week day routine and it always feels good to get back to it after a wild (ha!) weekend.

This weekend was pretty great though. My Uncle came into town from Tennessee. We hardly ever get to see him so it was a real treat. We spent too much time eating; we went to dinner both Friday and Saturday night. I didn't complain one bit though because A) I didn't have to cook and B) I thouroughly enjoyed these:

Saturday was spent cleaning house and reminding my husband to finish his honey do's! He added extra shelves to my pantry and cabinets in the kitchen. I desperately need more space, but the shelves will definitely help.

My darling husband, bless his heart, realized sometime Saturday that he misplaced his debit card. We called the restaurant we'd eaten at the night before but they insisted that they didn't have it. He ended up cancelling his card and ordering a new one so now we are down to just my card. A few years ago he lost his debit card but didn't realize it for a few days. By the time he figured it out, someone had found his card and used it to purchase about $400 worth of groceries. The bank never did give us our money back. I'm sure you will all understand when I tell you I'm thinking about taking his card from him! :)

I've also been working REALLY hard trying to potty train James. He knows what to do, and he has no problem doing it but we are having a hard time getting him to remember to go to the restroom instead of in his underroos. He did really well all weekend long - only three accidents. He even went to the restroom three times at the restaurant Saturday night - and he actually went each time! A work in progress, but I"m hopeful that the end of diapers are in my very near future!

Sunday evening I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things that I'd need for the week. After about an hour in the grocery store, I'm completely checked out. I open my wallet to pay, and guess what is missing? My debit card. Of course, you know who has it! I called my husband and told him to get dressed because I'd be home in a moment and he was going to need to take his rear end back up to the store to pick up our groceries! Talk about mad!

Anyhow, I asked all of my instagram friend over the weekend if anyone used myfitnesspal:

If you use myfitnesspal I'd love it if y'all would add me over there! I could use the support & accountability :) On a good note, as of today I've logged for five days straight!!

Always A Monday..

I'm really awesome at forgetting what day of the week it is. Except for on Monday's; I always know when Monday has rolled back around. Today, my friends, is definitely a Monday.

I am going to make two lucky ladies very happy this afternoon though..Last week I kicked off my 'blogiversary week' with an awesome giveaway from Southern Charm Apparel and it's time to announce the winners!

a Rafflecopter giveaway
Congratulations ladies! Check your email : )

So my weekend was pretty great! The weather in South East Texas was phenomenal this weekend. I mean, pretty much perfect! We don't get many days that I would deem "perfect" so it's worth talking about :)

The best part of my weekend was Saturday when I spent the morning and early afternoon with my BFF running trotting goofing off and running through a whole bunch of color at the Color in Motion 5k! This was the second one we've done in the last several months and we just can't get enough. If you've never done a race like this, you've got to put it on your list!!

Cue picture overload from race day:

Then when we got home, we pummeled the kids!

To say they loved it would be the understatement of the year!! We had the best time and we're already planning out next race!

What did you do this weekend?

I'd like to ask all of you to please keep us in your prayers. My husband has a job interview tomorrow afternoon; we are hopeful that things will go well but we know that even if he gets this new job there will be some major life changes coming our way. We are praying for guidance and favor!

While you're here, you might as well go enter all these amazing giveaways I've got going on!

Lazy Bones + A Weekend Recap

Hey y'all! I don't know what is up with me, but here lately I am so.tired.all.the.time.  I thought I was just recovering from our busy weekend, but even today, I'm still exhausted. I just hope I"m not coming down with something! Anyway I know it's Wednesday morning but I still wanted to tell y'all all about my weekend because it was a lot of fun!

If you follow me on instagram you may have seen some of these pictures as I posted them over the weekend. If you aren't following me, um, what are you waiting for? ;) So our main objective for this weekend was to get little man's bedroom painted. When we bought this house 3 years ago, this is what his room looked like:

This is also what his room looked like on Friday. I hate this green. I've hated it from the moment I laid eyes on it. Why did it take us 3 years to change it? I have no clue - especially now that it looks like this -

I can't believe we waited so long. I'm in love with his room now. It took us all.day.long. on Saturday to get this done but it was so worth it. I have big plans for the decor and that will be happening very soon!

Saturday night my neighbor came over and asked me to do her makeup for a Halloween party she was going to. I was so exhausted and didn't want to even do it but I am so glad that I did! She ended up winning first prize for the scariest Halloween costume!! I had never done Halloween makeup like this before so I was super excited for her and proud of myself!

That's my neighbor posing with my hubby up there. Isn't she scary looking?

On Sunday I spent time with the family and time in the kitchen! I made my very first ever pumpkin pie from SCRATCH. I'm talking straight from the pumpkin y'all! I've made pumpkin pie before, but it was always out of the can. I've been wanting to try it this way for a long time but I was very intimidated. Thanks to my girl Lindsay and her fabulous recipe & how to I finally decided to go for it. Guess what? It turned out fabulous! The crust was perfect and flaky. The filling had the perfect hint of pumpkin & sweetness. I was so excited!

Somebody likes Momma's pumpkin pie :)

Here are some more pictures from our weekend:
Hubby brought home my favorite for dinner Friday night!

They painted pumpkins while we painted walls!
Sunday Night Dinner
Homemade Cinnamon Raisin Bread!
...and since it's Wednesday already...here's how my Monday ended:

I got this in the mail!

Sweet Husband surprises! I love those :)

Then he makes me this. Think he is sucking up for something?
Happy Halloween y'all - what is everyone doing tonight? Are you dressing up? I can't wait to read about everyone's night!
