Temperatures at night are dropping lower, the air is feeling crisper, and folks are getting antsy for the sights, sounds, and tastes of Fall!

My absolute favorite season is Fall. I look forward to crisp, warm days, pumpkins all over the place, the excitement of Halloween, and a couple of my favorite Fall-themed beverages. It’s always fun to be a little indulgent, but if I were to drink my favorite pumpkin latte all season-long my diet plan would be way off track!

I’m going to share a multiple-serving recipe because even if you aren’t sharing with friends, you will probably find yourself wanting more than one latte! At only 93 calories per serving, enjoy the taste of Fall without the caloric guilt!

Lighter Pumpkin Latte Recipe
93 Calories per serving

(serves 4)

INGREDIENTS

• 12 packets Sweet‘N Low® zero calorie sweetener
• 1 cup (8 ounces) espresso coffee (or bold coffee)
• ¾ cup canned pumpkin (not the pie filling)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
• 3 cups skim milk (or plain unsweetened almond or soy milk)
• Nutmeg, for garnish (optional)

DIRECTIONS

1. In a heatproof container, whirl the Sweet‘N Low®, espresso, pumpkin, vanilla extract, and pumpkin pie spice using a milk frother or fork.  Pour equal amounts into 4 mugs.
2. In a separate container, heat the milk in the microwave. Pour equal amounts of hot milk to each mug and whirl until the latte is topped with foam.
3. Garnish with a pinch of nutmeg. Serve immediately.

Sweeten Recipes with Sweet'N Low

Summer is just around the corner and with that comes a lot of gatherings with large amounts of cool drinks! We all want to look our best, but often fall to the temptations of scrumptious offerings at the continuous stream of barbecues, picnics and reunions that are common throughout the summer months.

A really unique story began around the Second World War at a family-owned café that served the servicemen and women working at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Light and Sassy Party Punch Recipe

Ingredients

·         16 packets Sweet’N Low® zero calorie sweetener

·         1 cup sliced fresh strawberries

·         1 can (6 ounce) unsweetened pineapple juice

·         1 can (8 ounce) pineapple tidbits in 100% juice,    

          undrained

·         2 tablespoons lemon juice

·         1 quart unsweetened cranberry juice, chilled

·         Ice

·         1 liter club soda, chilled

·         8 fresh strawberries

Directions

1. Mix cranberry and lemon juices, pineapple and pineapple juice, sliced        strawberries and Sweet'N Low in 3 quart 

 nonmetal pitcher.

2. Stir in club soda and serve over ice.

3. Garnish each serving with fresh strawberry.

#DecideToDrive {Alert and Without Distractions}

We're all guilty of it in some way. It's easy to do and sometimes it can happen without even realizing it. Unfortunately it has become the norm or at least it seems that way. Driving distracted. I think we're all guilty of it at some point. Talking on the phone, texting, flipping through the radio stations, eating, putting on make up, screaming at unruly kids (I do not do that, not one bit).

There are so many different things that can easily distract us while driving and it only takes a split second for a distraction to cause a crash. I'm guilty of driving distracted. I have two small kids that are in the vehicle with me 99% of the time and I do my best to limit distractions. I don't text unless my car is at a complete stop and sometimes I feel like even that is a bad idea. I'd by lying if I said I never get honked at when the light turns green and I'm still sitting there! My car is equipped with a blue tooth system so when I get in I always connect my phone. If I get a call while driving I can easily answer it by pushing a button on the steering wheel and I can talk through the speakers in my car. It's a feature that I love and use frequently.

I've noticed an increasing trend: it is typical to pass other drivers on the road and see them looking down at or talking on their phones, applying make up while driving (this one still baffles me!), or eating all while driving. The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and The Auto Alliance (and myself!) want to increase awareness about the risks of distracted driving.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), of the nearly 33,000 roadway fatalities in 2012, there were 3,328 fatalities and approximately 421,000 injuries in distracted driving-related crashes. I carry my most precious cargo with me almost all of the time and I do my best to protect them at every turn. However, I cannot control the actions of other drivers on the road. Distracted driving puts the lives of innocent people at risk as well as your own. 

Remember, the most advanced safety feature of any vehicle is the driver. The AAOS and the Auto Alliance urges all drivers to keep their most sophisticated safety features engaged at all times: eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.

Challenge Accepted: Packing Creative Lunches for Kids

Monday's lunch was super simple. My kiddos LOVE those little pre made cheese and cracker packages you get from the grocery store. I don't purchase them often so they know they are getting a treat when I do. I spruced it up with some other finger foods because what kid doesn't like finger foods? South West International Boat Show - Family Fun on The Water!

Ladies (and gentlemen?), I have a really cool event to share with y'all! I know at one point last summer I talked seriously about buying a boat and that thought is still in my head; unfortunately it won't be happening anytime soon. However, a little window shopping never hurt anyone! Besides - the South West International Boat show is NOT just a boat show!

As the Southwest’s premier Power and Sail Show, and the largest in-water boat show in Texas, the show will feature over 200 vendors and a display of every type of vessel, both freshwater and saltwater, from 10ft to 80ft at the South Shore Harbour Marina, and with plenty of free parking, and ongoing entertainment, there is no better place to go boat shopping whilst enjoying a great day out with the family.

Boat Show attendees will have access to Free Hourly Seminars throughout the four days of the Show, and both new and seasoned boaters have the opportunity to sign up for the Discover Boating on-water hands on skills training programs for both power and sail.

Other attractions within the Show will include The Haii Inc. Live Shark Experience , the Be A Diver Pool, a Craft Beer Tastings, and Live Bands each day.

Pipeline Pizza - A Restaurant.com #ReviewCrew Review

A few weeks ago Chris and I decided that we wanted to try out a new restaurant; we hopped onto Restaurant.com to see what we could find. Pipeline Pizza wasn't too far from home and pizza sounded good so we purchased a $15 Restaurant.com gift code for just a few bucks and headed out.

When we arrived, I realized that Pipeline was a brand new place - I was even more eager to try it out then! Once inside, we were greeted by friendly counter staff who helped us with the ordering process. There are menus inside the door - you just order at the counter and choose a seat. Easy peasy. Below is a shot of the menu - it's not the greatest but I wanted to show y'all all of Pipeline Pizza's offerings. You can also view their full menu online. 

We started off our meal with the buffalo wings - Chris' choice ;) Now I'm a fan of wings, but I'm also pretty picky about the flavor and texture also. I can tell you that these were spot on. Trust me when I tell you that I fought for my fair share!

I was craving a salad so I ordered a caesar, my favorite. You might be thinking - "a salad is a salad right?" Well, kind of. The thing that stood about this salad for me was the dressing. It tasted house made - so much so that we asked our server about it. We were disappointed when he informed us that it was not and even more so when he wouldn't tell us where we could find it! 

I chose this Italian Special Sandwich as my main entree. It was loaded down with meats and vegetables and cheese. You guys, it was amazing - fresh, crunchy, with just the right flavors! It was also giant! I only ate half and saved the rest for lunch the following day! 

Chris went with the Chicken Parmesan - one of his favorite meals. This plate was giant; two large pieces of chicken over noodles topped with sauce and a meatball! The chicken was breaded and cooked perfectly with just the right crunch. I hate it when I get a chicken parmesan that is a little soggy! The garlic bread was pretty awesome too.

Between the ambiance, great service, and delicious food - we were really impressed with Pipeline Pizza. Beyond that, the prices were amazing. I'm a little sad that we now live clear on the other side of town from this little gem. If you live in the Houston area, you should definitely look them up!

Do you ever just get a craving for a good sandwich? I do. I have a favorite from a chain restaurant that has bacon, guacamole, and sprouts on top of turkey all stuffed into a croissant. Gosh, it's good. Sometimes, I crave a peanut butter and banana sandwich...don't knock it til you try it folks. My kiddos - they like chocolate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I can't speak for that combination myself but it's their favorite! 

Currently, Jif is running their Most Creative Sandwich Contest and they are challenging families across the country to create an original sandwich recipe that includes two tablespoons of your favorite Jif products! Parents with children ages 6-12 can submit their original sandwich for a chance to win a $25,000 college fund and a trip to New York City! Hello - that's awesome!
