There are so many things I could tell you about this amazing woman and still it would just be the "tip of the iceberg." She is strong, loving, faithful to her God, funny, caring, and truly an inspiration. I've looked up to her all of my life. I love listening to her tell stories from when she was younger; she has so many stories she can share. I'll never forget the time that she was trying to make a batch of margaritas (maybe SHE is responsible for my love affair with margaritas - that totally makes sense now!) and she was looking for the "mix wildly" button on the blender. You see, the directions on the package were instructing her to "mix wildly!"
I remember her picking me up from elementary school when I was sick. She took me to the drugstore and bought me my favorite throat lozenges - Luden's - cherry (I ate those things like candy!). Then she took me home and tucked me safely into bed and watched over me until my Mom returned from work. My Nana is a wonderful caregiver.
She also took me to buy first bicycle. She told me I could pick out any bike I wanted and that was very exciting for me! When I picked the bike I wanted, she said to me, "Well, you sure have expensive taste don't you?!" I can remember feeling guilty for picking an expensive bike, but she made sure she got me the one I really wanted.
My Nana is without a doubt the "hub" of our family. She is the one person who binds us all together. I feel so blessed to have her in my life and I will cherish the memories we have! I feel so lucky to have been able to celebrate her 100th birthday with her!
